Gyldenholt Combat Practice

Basic Information: ------------------------ This is a Facebook event for combat practice held Tuesdays in the Barony of Gyldenholt (Orange County, California) within the Society for Creative Anachronism. Attending practice is open to anyone interested and is free of charge. Minors must bring adult supervision. Practice happens on the grass between the Basketball Courts and covered picnic area across from the park building. There are no formal classes, per se, however there are experts in several fields available to train fighters and answer questions in three types of medieval or renaissance combat styles. Loaner gear is often available for new participants to try out, if set up in advance. (Contact Baron Ilia Aleksandrovich) Types of Combat: ------------------------ Armored Combat practices and recreates 12th century armored foot combat, simulated with rattan weapons. Pell training, unarmored instruction and casual armoring activities are common. (Contact Duke Dietrich von Vogelsang) Rapier Combat practices and recreates late 15th and early 16th century civil combat, simulated by epees, schlagers, and practice rapiers. Fighting takes place on grass. After dark, dim lighting is provided by the nearby basketball courts and picnic area.
