3rd Saturday Contra Dance South Pasadena, CA, January 20th, 2018

Saturday January 20

The Woman's Club of South Pasadena, 1424 Fremont Ave, South Pasadena

Friendly and clear in his teaching, caller Jonathan Southard of Santa Barbara brings us a wealth of dances to match the sweet, strong sound of "Rhythm Method." Like Jonathan, the band is keenly attentive to the dancers and crafts medleys to take couples (and the whole hall!) on a musical journey, each tune offering rich moods & inspirations, each tune building to the delights & surprises of the next. Briana Bandy's fiddling blends the pure tone of classical training with infectious melodies of ever-evolving folk tradition. Steve Shapiro (banjo, mandolin, & fiddle) and Emil Olguin (guitar) give the downbeat and the heart-beat of the music, a pulse that energizes from start to finish. The Contra Dance Must Go On !!!!Stewart will call for Jonathan Southard for the 3rd Saturday Contra, Jan. 20, 2018, 8-11 p.m., So. Pasadena Woman's Club, 1424 Fremont Avenue, So. Pasadena, CA 91030. The closure of Highway 101 southbound from Santamade Jon's round-trip using lengthy alternate routes far too time-consuming, given important family responsibilities back in Santa Barbara. Thank you,Stewart, and best wishes to Jonathan and all in the Santaarea who have suffered and endured so much from the fires and mudslides. There is repair, recovery, and grieving for many. We are so sorry for the losses from these disasters.
If I could get a ride....Pasadena dances are out of my range...Century City
